Beautiful high relief of the face of Christ signed Mattei.  Louis Octave Mattei was a French sculptor and medal engraver in the late 19th / early 20th century.
This piece is a reproduction of his work that probably dates from the mid to late 20th Century and is made of limestone. It could come from the Fontaines pétrifiantes in Saint Nectaire.
The details are beautiful! 
It was orginally in a frame.
Some discolouration and stains in places.
Small chips.

Approximately 6 cm / 2.36 inches thick.
